Genuine, Collaborative and Accountable

Welcome!

Why am I Running?

I have decided to run for Leduc City Council because I have called Leduc home for 25 years. As a homeowner and parent, I want Leduc to be a safe, affordable and inclusive place to raise a family.  I have the experience in municipal government and community service required to be an effective councillor.  I will work hard to ensure that residents feel heard.  Together, we can make Leduc even better!

My Goals if Elected

I want to collaborate with the Mayor and other Councillors to come up with innovative solutions to address the following issues:

  • Maintain services that are important to residents, such as snow removal and road maintenance while keeping  tax increases to a minimum.  You deserve reliable services without facing major tax hikes.

  • Obtain feedback from residents to determine what they feel are the issues that need to be addressed for residents to feel safe from crime in Leduc.

  • Strategize with community groups and relevant City departments to address the unhoused population.

  • Ensure that Council is transparent and accountable when issues arise and information is communicated to residents in a clear, concise manner.

My Skills and Experience

My education consists of  a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Psychology and a diploma in Human Resource Management.  I believe the combination of my education, experience and skills would be beneficial and transferable if I was elected to council.  I managed the Leduc and District Food bank for five years before transitioning to two different positions in my 18 years that I was employed at the City of Leduc.

The experience I gained at the Food bank:

  • I  ensured that monetary and food donations received were used as efficiently as possible.

  • I maintained and developed community partnerships that encouraged the continued support from the community.

  • I managed staff and volunteers and developed an appreciation of how much can be accomplished when a team works together and new Ideas are encouraged.

  • I ensured that clients felt respected by striving to provide a nonjudgmental environment.  Anyone’s situation can change and no one should ever feel ashamed to ask for assistance.

  • I learned how a Board of Directors operate and developed an understanding of the collaborative process required to implement new ideas.  I realized that if I wanted their support on a new process or expenditure that I had to be prepared to sell my idea and plan responses for any potential questions that might be asked.

After leaving the Food bank, I started working in an administrative role at Public Services.

  •  I interacted with City of Leduc residents daily.   I realized how much the ordinary day-today services played an important role in people’s lives.  Being able to get your car out of the driveway because the snow plow came by is important.

  • Everyone‘s requests could not always be met and this taught me how to explain to people, in a calm manner, why we were unable to do something.  The message was not always well received but sometimes you have to be the messenger of unpopular news.

My other position at the City of Leduc, was as a Human Resources Administrator:

  • This role allowed me to further develop my people skills.  I was constantly meeting new people and this was the best part of my job.  I strived to ensure that candidates felt welcomed and as comfortable as possible.

  • Overseeing a recruitment from start to finish allowed me to hone my organizational skills, ensuring that all of the steps were completed to facilitate a successful recruitment as multiple people were depending on me and I did not want to let them down.

  • I also learned how to have some tough conversations if someone did not get the job.  Being diplomatic and understanding made the conversation manageable.

  • Negotiating contracts allowed me to learn the delicate balance of meeting the wants of a candidate with the financial accountability of the City of Leduc.

In March 2025, I decided to take early retirement from the City of Leduc but I still want to be a part of this great organization, but in a different role, so I decided to run for Council.   I want to use the skills that I have learned in my previous positions to represent the residents of Leduc.

About Me

I grew up in Winnipeg where I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and my diploma in Human Resources  Management.  I moved to Leduc in 2000 and have proudly called  Leduc home with my husband David and three children for the past 25 years.

I enjoy volunteering with Meals on Wheels once a week and volunteer at multiple events throughout the year with Make A Wish Foundation.   My favourite Make A Wish event, that I volunteer for, is the Make A Wish Slo Pitch Glad Slam tournament held at William F. Lede Park.  I am anxiously anticipating volunteering again this year for this event in August, as it is a wonderful, fun event.

I like to remain active by taking my two dogs on walks on the amazing multi-way system or taking them for a run at one of the dog parks in Leduc.  In winter, I like to go to the Leduc Recreation Centre to use the walking track.

I also enjoy visiting the Leduc Public Library and checking out a good book regularly.

Like many other people, I like to play online games and spend too much time browsing the Internet.

I'm ready to bring my experience and dedication to City Council—and I'd be honoured to earn your support. Let's build a stronger Leduc, together.
